Food Review: Momo Crave

Momo Crave’s is a Nepalese restaurant located at 38-07 69th St, Queens, NY 11377. This restaurant is halal and has many different options of momos, which are dumplings that originate from Nepal. This restaurant has done an amazing job at including traditional Nepalese flavors while also incorporating other cultural cuisines in their momos (dumplings). Momo Crave has a somewhat diverse menu consisting of noodle and rice dishes, a few fried dishes, bara, and their specialty momos. There are many different flavors of momos to try such as steam, fried, tandoori, sandeko, taco, cheese, kothey, chili, chaat, sukuti, and sizzler momos.

The momos we tried were the chilli, chaat, taco, and the tandoori momos. As per the ratings of the momos the worst one would be taco momo which was a 5.5/10, this momo had a variety of toppings including avocado, salsa, a drizzled sour cream and a type of purple beans. The taco momo was an overall 5.5 only because the toppings didn’t taste well together. The tandoori momo was a 6.5/10, it was grilled, filled with onions and peppers and came with sauces on the side. There wasn’t anything that tasted weird with the tandoori momo, it was just plain and lacking in flavor. The chaat momo was a 7/10 dipped in yogurt and filled with onions, tomato, tamarind and green chutney. Although the chaat momo was not bad, it was drowning in yogurt  which made it soggy. The chili momo was 9/10, it was filled with chili sauce, tomato, onion, and peppers. It may say chili but it wasn’t as spicy so a spice tolerance is not needed to eat these; this momo was not plain but flavorful while also having a little bit of spice.

In addition to the momos, we also tried the shrimp chow mein and the chili chicken. Both of these were a 10/10; the flavors of these were exquisite. However, if purchasing the shrimp chow mein, we would recommend picking a different type of meat instead of shrimp because the shrimp was uncooked and basic. The traditional drink at momo’s crave was the mango lassi which was an overall 8/10, this is a mango and yogurt based drink making it very creamy and also sweet.

Aside from the food, the restaurant itself had a very cozy and comfortable vibe. For a small place it was very spacious and the artwork was unique, detailed, and delightful. Definitely check out Momo’s if you’re looking for something new to try!
