Memorial Day is on the last day of Monday of the month where we take a day off. The purpose is to remember and honor the soldier who fought in the battles and the one who died. Memorial Day was first celebrated in 1868, after the end of the Civil War, which was three years earlier; May 30 was the day and month it happened to be. The one who created the idea was none other than The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), a now defunct military fraternity. The reason the Grand Army of The Republic was for the civilians to remember the soldiers of those who sacrificed their lives and understand the peace we have was the soldiers’ sacrifice on the battlefield. Although in 1970 the Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act which led to the Memorial Day on the last Monday. There are some rules on what to do during the Memorial Day that can be shown as respect to one who knows the history.
On the way to celebrate the holiday is with the Poppy flower where in the field of dirt and mud area where the French and Belgian soldiers had died during War World ll but after the war, the flower grew which the poppy came to symbolize the blood shed during the war. The poppy flower became an official flower in 1920, leading an Honor to the fallen and supporting the living of our nation’s uniform. It can wear or be a flower bouquet.
The other way to celebrate Memorial Day is to post the mini-American flag, where you can show your honor to the fallen soldier’s grave and put the poppy flower on them, to show your gratitude and with this action can be a way to remember the sacrifice of soldiers and the spirits the soldiers have in themselves.
