Marvin Sukhhiran, the assistant coach for the Boys Varsity Football team, is the coach for the Handball boys varsity team. He takes on the role of being a dean, math teacher, and coach for numerous teams.

Here is the Q&A:

What expectations do you have for your new/returning team? 

Sukhhiran: “The boys varsity handball team this year is looking to create a deep run into the playoffs this year, continuing off of last year’s quarterfinals success. This year’s team is the largest it’s ever been in the seven years I have coached it. We have a strong mix of returning seniors as well as new athletes who are hungry to learn. This year, if everyone holds their weight, I expect our team to be top 3 in the city, possibly making the city finals.”

Some athletes to look out for are Jason Eng at first singles, David Khatri at second singles, and Sukhbir Guru at first doubles, three seniors who will lead the team.

What is the biggest need in your team?

Sukhhiran: “A struggle my athletes have is balancing their team duties with school and work. Many of my seniors have jobs and try their best to balance their time with the practice/match schedule.”

I would love to continue promoting the sport to the school population and discovering more raw talent that we have hidden in our school. Although there are many sophomores and juniors who will return next year, we do not have any freshmen on the team. All in all, we look forward to a successful season..
